When a consumer turns to your website to find care, their journey relies heavily on the clinical data architecture working beneath the surface. Accurate, intuitive search results depend on consistent taxonomy terms — from primary specialties down to specific conditions treated.
In our previous preview of taxonomy intelligence, we outlined our vision for bringing centralized governance, enhanced search relevance, and site performance to your digital ecosystem. Today, we're excited to share a closer look at the first tool rolling out from that initiative: the Taxonomy Usage Report.
Challenge: Tagging at scale
For healthcare marketing teams, content managers, and site administrators, managing complex taxonomies across hundreds or thousands of provider profiles is a constant operational hurdle. Disparate keyword lists, unlinked conditions, and missing tags often hide quietly in the background.
When these keyword relationships break down, site search suffers. Qualified providers fail to appear for relevant patient queries, creating friction in the user experience and impacting SEO performance. Auditing and fixing these issues historically required clicking through individual provider profiles or manually cross-referencing giant spreadsheets.
Solution: Visibility and action in one dashboard
The Taxonomy Usage Report simplifies data governance by bringing term analytics and quick-editing tools into a single, intuitive interface. Built initially for Provider content types, the tool delivers two game-changing benefits: clear visibility into how terms are tagged across your site and the immediate ability to update them.
Here’s a look at how this report helps you optimize your site data without friction:
- Centralized vocabulary audits: Select a specific vocabulary (such as Specialties or Conditions Treated) to see a comprehensive overview of how terms are distributed. Quick percentage badges reveal exactly how much of your provider base carries a specific tag.

- Co-occurrence analysis: Uncover how terms interact with one another. For instance, if you view providers tagged under Family Medicine, you can instantly analyze how many are also tagged with related conditions like Abdominal Pain. This makes it easy to spot gaps where essential terms are missing across an entire specialty.

- In-line profile editing: Instead of leaving the report to navigate through separate administration menus, you can select any provider directly within the view to review, add, or remove tags in real time.

- Seamless keyword management: Audit and edit "Related Search Keywords" right from the dashboard. Ensuring terms like "heart doctor" direct patients accurately to cardiology profiles helps bridge search gaps before they cause zero-result searches.

- Efficient bulk tagging: Select multiple providers who are missing a key term and apply it in a single click — saving your team from hours of repetitive, manual profile editing.

What’s next?
Look for the official release and full details later this month. And the launch for providers is just the beginning, as we expand support for Locations, Services, and other key content types. Stay tuned!
