Updates to Content Feeds

We've added a few controls to the automatic content feed block type! These additions allow more customization and serve more use cases.

"Type" Selection Method

From the Configure block page of a content feed block, there is now a new option under Selection Method for Type. This allows you to choose a type of content to automatically populate a content feed.

After selecting type, a dropdown appears where you can select which content type to use. You can choose LocationPostProvider, or Services.

The feed will only be populated by the content type you've selected. For even greater control, use this in conjunction with our new sorting feature detailed below.

Maximum Number of Cards & Sort By

We've also added the abilities to sort and set a maximum number of cards to display in a content feed. This can greatly help feeds with a large potential of items be much more manageable and user-friendly.

Further down the Configure block page, you will see two new fields: Maximum Number of Cards and Sort By.

Maximum Number of Cards is a numerical input box. A content feed cannot display any more cards than the number set here, even if there are more cards that match qualifications. This can be any integer value from 1 to 24. Cards will always display in order of best matching the content feed qualifications to least matching, so it will always be the lesser matching cards that are removed by this cap.

Sort By is a dropdown box where you can set a sort order for the cards in the content feed. There are several sort options to choose from:

  • Title (A to Z): Sort the cards by title in ascending order
  • Title (Z to A): Sort the cards by title in descending order
  • Created Date (Newest to Oldest): Sort the cards by created date with the most recently created cards first
  • Created Date (Oldest to Newest): Sort the cards in the same order in which they were created (first to last)
  • Random: Randomly select cards to populate the feed
  • Relatedness: Sort the cards by how closely they are related to the current content being viewed. Relatedness is measured by the number of taxonomy that a card has in common with the current viewed page.
