Provider Search: Sort tiers

Get complete control over the sort order in DXE Provider Search and prioritize certain Provider features to appear first!

What it is

Sort tiers allow you to group and order search results based on specific criteria and display them in a preferred order.

Note: Currently, sort tiers can only be added to your site by our web implementation team. Please reach out to your Account Manager if you would like to implement sort tiers. We’re happy to help!

Each tier is defined by one or more rules, and each rule is based on a field in the DXE Provider records. Once the tiers are established, the tiers can be set to display in any order you like.

Providers that meet the rule for the first tier will be displayed first in search results. Providers that don’t meet the rule for the first tier, but do meet the rule for the second tier will be displayed next. And so on, until the remaining Providers are displayed last.

In the diagram, the blue Provider cards are shown at the top, the yellow cards are shown next, and the remaining cards are shown after that.

The sort tier priority will still be enforced if a user applies a search filter to their results.

The diagram shows a full list of cards on the left, with blue cards on top, yellow cards next, and remaining cards at the bottom. On the right, the diagram shows that same list filtered. There are fewer blue, yellow, and remaining cards, but they are listed in the same order.

Why it matters

Sort tiers allow you to display Providers with certain capabilities or features first, while your visitors can still search and filter for their needs. A few use case examples:

  • Show Providers with a specific affiliation before all other Providers.
  • Show Providers that are accepting new patients with a specialty of “Primary Care” above all others. Then show Providers who offer virtual care, followed by all other Providers.

In short, sort tiers give you more customizability around which Providers display first when a visitor is searching for Providers!

Services: New “Show in Services page” option

By popular demand, enjoy better control over the visibility of your Services!

What it is

There is now a new option when editing Services pages labeled Show in Services page. Marking this checkbox will add the service to the “All services” list that displays on the automatically generated Services Search page.

How it works

While editing a Service page, simply mark the new checkbox to ensure the Service is displayed on the Services Search page. Unmark the checkbox to hide it.

Side by side screenshots - the left screenshot shows the Show in Services Page checkbox marked on the Achilles Tendon Rupture service. The right screenshot highlights the Achilles Tendon Rupture service listed under All Services on the Services page.

Side by side screenshots - the left screenshot shows the Show in Services Page checkbox unmarked on the Achilles Tendon Rupture service. The right screenshot points to where the Achilles Tendon Rupture service used to be - it is no longer listed on the Services page.

Why it matters

Previous to this release, the existing Show in Search page option would control both visibility in the “All Services” section, and whether the Service would show in search results. We received client feedback requesting to control these options independently, enabling more curation of the Services visible in the “All Services” section while still allowing users to find them using the Services Search. With this new release, you can now do so!

Embedded content: new DXE Card option

Easily add cards to the body of your article with an intuitive UI - no code required!

What it is

There is now a new DXE Card option when adding Embedded content to an article! This is an easy way to add a card directly to the body by simply filling out a template.

How it works

Find the new DXE Card option in the dropdown for Embedded content:

Why it matters

Cards are a nice visual element to add to your site . Using this new feature, you can add a card to articles wherever you want quickly and easily!

New “Save and Edit” button

Reduce loading and navigation time when saving your content progress!

What it is

When editing any piece of content, there is now a new Save and Edit button. This button will save your current progress on the content and remain in Edit mode for further editing. This is different from the pre-existing Save button, which navigates to the View tab after saving instead.

How it works

Click Save and Edit while editing content. The button is located next to the Save button.

You will see a confirmation message that the content has been updated. You’ll also remain on the Edit tab to make further changes.

Why it matters

When working on content in increments, it can feel cumbersome to have to navigate back to the Edit tab after every save. With this new button, you remain on the Edit tab and can immediately continue working where you left off!

  • Adjusted DXE Toolbar code so the View Color Styles and global search options stay on screen. Previous to this fix, the options disappeared when looking at a published article while signed in:
Side by side screenshots: the left screenshot shows the View Color Styles and search icons missing, while the right screenshot shows them visible after the fix.

  • Minor adjustments to margins on Provider Search page to improve display (sample improvement shown below):
Side by side screenshots of the Provider Search page: the screenshot on the left highlights margins that are too small between the filters and the Providers list, while the screenshot on the right shows increased margins and a better overall look.

  • Adjusted breadcrumbs code for better SEO and compatibility with the Google Search Console. This addresses a potential message of “Either ‘name’ or ‘item.name’ should be specified (in ‘itemListElement’)” in the Google Search Console.
